There are scholarship opportunities everywhere! Below are some tips, resources, and ideas for finding both local and national opportunities:
- Look at the Financial Aid section of the colleges/universities/technical schools that you are considering - they often have scholarship opportunities listed there.
- Check in with any clubs, associations, hobby groups, employers, unions, etc. that you or your parents are or have been affiliated with.
- Register with a free, reputable, scholarship search engine - one example is www.TheWashBoard.org, an organization that connects Washington state students with Washington state scholarship providers (awards can be used both in and out of state). Spend some time setting up your profile; the more specific criteria you provide the better, not all scholarships are based on academics.
