Viking Voyage Information

Dear NKHS Community,

Thank you for another amazing year at North Kitsap High School. It has been a wild ride these past few years and we really enjoyed having students back in person in classrooms this year. As we head into summer, I wanted to make sure to update you with some news, information and summer dates.

  • NKHS is 100 years old! We are so excited to be celebrating our centennial in the coming year and hope you will join us in some fun activities to commemorate 100 years of students and community attending North Kitsap High School. If you are interested in being part of a planning committee to work on our centennial celebrations, please reach out to Principal Megan Sawicki.
  • As we transition school years, we also have staff transitions. This year, we have a number of staff moving on to new adventures:
    • Becky Calder–Special Education
    • Sylvia Cauter–Choir

Please join us in welcoming the following staff to NKHS for the 2022-2023 school year:

  • The NKHS office will be closed for the summer. We will re-open the office on August 15th. We look forward to seeing you in August.
  • Viking Rush is back! On August 18th, Viking Rush will take place from 8:00-3:30 in the Commons. Viking Rush is a time for 10th-12th grade parents and students to come in and take care of some business prior to the school year starting. Plan to come in to take care of the following:
    • Yearbook photos
    • Computer exchange (ALL students will be handing in their computers and getting brand new Chromebooks this year)
    • Class Schedule Clean Up–Counselors will be available to support students who have schedule errors, such as holes in their schedules, missing a core course, or courses out of sequence.
    • Parking Passes–Students may pick up their parking pass application
    • Purchase ASB Cards
    • Pay for Athletic Fees
    • Pre-pay food service account–Lunches will be at a cost again in the coming year, so this is a great time to pre-load your student’s lunch account.
    • Sign up for clubs and activities
  • Bridge to High School (9th graders only) will take place on August 29th and 30th from 9:00-12:00. We strongly encourage ALL incoming 9th graders to attend Bridge to High School. All activities from Viking Rush will be included in Bridge to High School–9th grade families and students do not need to attend Viking Rush.

It’s time to register for our Bridge to High School event coming up on August 29th & 30th. It’s important you do everything you can to be on campus for these two days because we will do our best to set you up for success for all of your days as a Viking!

From learning all about what it means to be a Viking, to knowing your way around campus, to getting your new laptops, to being involved in a lot of fun activities, this is the ‘can’t miss’ event of the school year!

Use the link below now and register. District transportation is available but you need to sign up to take advantage of that. We’re looking forward to having our new Vikes on campus soon!

  • August 31st is the First Day of School. It’s a Wednesday, and we will be following our regular Wednesday schedule. We will also be hosting our Back to School Night on August 31st, from 5:00-7:00 PM. This is a chance to meet your student’s teachers and learn more about the classes they will be taking.

As always, we will continue to send updated information throughout the summer. We hope you all have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you in the new school year.
