PSAT

The PSAT is offered every fall at NKHS and the cost is usually $20. The Fall 2019 testing date has not yet been scheduled, but usually occurs in mid October. Registration usually begins in late September and will be advertised on our website, in the NKHS Bulletin, and in the daily morning announcements.

What is the PSAT? The PSAT/NMSQT is a test offered by College Board for students to practice the SAT college entrance exam.  The PSAT is a multiple-choice exam that assesses 3 content areas: mathematics, critical reading and writing skills.  The PSAT is designed to provide students an opportunity to test in a similar testing environment as the SAT.  (Please note: The SAT is usually taken during the end of junior and/or beginning of senior year of high school.)  The PSAT is great practice for students wanting to familiarize themselves with and practice for the SAT exam.

The PSAT is also the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship, which students can only qualify for during their junior year.  To learn more about the National Merit Scholarship and how to qualify visit www.nationalmerit.org.

For more information on the PSAT, contact your counselor or check out the College Board’s website at www.collegeboard.com.
