Henry Guterson - JV Head Coach
Education: B.A. in History, University of Washington, 2008

High School
: Bainbridge High School, 2002
Coaching Experience:

9 years at the high school level— two as a C-team coach, five as JV coach, and two as Varsity head coach.

Coach Guterson played for Coach Orness from 2001-2003 at Bainbridge HS.  His Senior season, he was a team Captain and named to the 2nd-team all-Metro League team and the 3A WIBCA all-State squad.  He made more than 90 three pointers his Senior year, still an all-time record at BHS. He became Orness’s Varsity assistant and C-team coach at age 19.  In his first year, his C-team went 15-2 and the Varsity got 2nd in State. Guterson was hooked— not just because of the winning, but because of the competitive nature of the job and the relationships he gained with players and other coaches.  He hasn’t stopped coaching since, not only at the high school level, but the youth level as well.

Guterson owns and runs two businesses.  One is HOOPS! Basketball & more, which offers basketball and other sports clinics and camps to children starting at age three in the Bainbridge and Poulsbo communities.  The other is Camino Journeys, which takes two small groups a year to Spain to walk the various Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes.

Guterson isn’t married and has no children, but is supported by his parents, two older brothers, two younger sisters, two nephews, and one niece.
