About Me
My name is Lisa Nowowiejska and I teach Spanish 2, 3, and 4th year A.P. Spanish. I live with my husband, four children, one cat and two dogs - our house is a busy place!  We love living in Poulsbo and being a part of the community here.  My favorite place to be is either out on our boat or on the deck watching the kids and dogs running around.

I hold a B.A. in Spanish from Western Washington University (along with my teaching degree) and an M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from California State University Sacramento.

In high school I decided I wanted to travel to a Spanish speaking country and ended up spending 8 weeks in rural Ecuador (Azuay) carrying out a public health project through a program called Amigos de las Americas.  I lived in a village with another 16-year-old and a college-aged supervisor came by once a week to bring us our mail and troubleshoot.  It was an experience that was way out of my comfort zone but the extensive training I received before departing set me up for a successful summer.  In fact, I loved the program so much that I returned the following summer and volunteered in a different region of Ecuador (Tunguarahua), and then spent two summers in college as a volunteer supervisor (Cotopaxi, Ecuador and Oaxaca, Mexico).  I have had several students participate in the program over the years, the most recent one just having returned from Costa Rica this summer!

I was an exchange student in Morelia, Mexico as an undergrad and my graduate school was done entirely abroad in Spain, Costa Rica, Guatemala and Peru.  I have a love of the Spanish language and culture, and my travels have given me a breadth of experiences that have shaped who I am today.  I hope that some of my students will be joining us on our Europe trip to Spain, France and Germany this coming summer!
